Arsenal alarmed at progress of midfield ace - report

By Tony Hughes

Arsenal are growing increasingly alarmed over Aaron Ramsey’s recovery from a hamstring injury, according to a report.

The Sun claim the midfielder has not recovered as quickly as expected and manager Arsene Wenger is still unsure when he will return.

It is said that Wenger and his coaching staff are refusing to gamble on Ramsey until he is 100 per cent fit again and will monitor him closely at the club’s training headquarters in the next few weeks.

The Wales international has not played since suffering a hamstring injury on the first day of the season, when he limped out of the 4-3 defeat to Liverpool on 14 August.

Wenger revealed on Monday that the key midfielder is set to miss Arsenal’s Premier League showdown against Chelsea on Saturday.

Wenger said last week that he hoped the 25-year-old could be in contention for Saturday’s landmark home match against London rivals Chelsea.

But the Frenchman gave a more pessimistic update about Ramsey’s fitness ahead of Tuesday’s EFL Cup trip to Championship club Nottingham Forest.

Asked about the 25-year-old, Wenger told the official Arsenal website: “He is still out – I don’t think he will be ready for the weekend either.”

This comes amid a report that Ramsey and Wenger have held showdown talks about the player’s future at Emirates Stadium.
