Arsenal and Newcastle stars respond to Joe Rothwell’s ‘exciting’ message after Rangers agreement
Arsenal and Newcastle players are among the Premier League stars who have reacted excitedly to Joe Rothwell’s latest update following confirmation of his Rangers move.
Rothwell spent last season on loan at Leeds United, playing a key role in helping the club secure promotion back to the Premier League.
While some sections of the Leeds fanbase were eager to see the club sign Rothwell on a permanent deal, Leeds ultimately decided not to pursue a long-term transfer.
It didn’t take long for him to find a new challenge, with Rangers announcing Rothwell’s arrival, where he will be reunited with former manager Russell Martin.
The midfielder has now shared a message as he prepares to start the next chapter of his career in Scottish football.

Joe Rothwell sends motivated message as Rangers move confirmed
After sealing his move to Rangers, Rothwell shared a message with supporters as he prepares for a new challenge in Scotland.
Posting on Instagram, Rothwell said: “Time to get to work, the beginning of an exciting new opportunity, can’t wait to get going.”
His update sparked plenty of reaction across football, with Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya commenting: “All the best brother” while former teammate Largie Ramazani simply wrote: “Playa.”
Other players also showed their support by liking the post, including Newcastle’s Jacob Murphy and Leeds United duo Daniel James and Joe Rodon.
Rothwell reunites with former manager Martin, having played under him during his loan spell at Southampton in the 2023/24 season, helping the Saints secure promotion to the Premier League. He then repeated the feat with Leeds a season later.
The midfielder became a trusted option for Daniel Farke last term, making 27 starts in 39 appearances, contributing four assists across more than 2,500 minutes of football.
Rangers weigh up Jamie Vardy transfer as summer rebuild continues

Rangers are expected to back Martin heavily in the transfer window, with new owners 49ers Enterprises determined to make their mark on the club.
Their recruitment won’t stop with Rothwell, as Football Insider report that Rangers have set their sights on veteran striker Jamie Vardy, who is available on a free transfer following his departure from Leicester City.
The 38-year-old is believed to be keen to continue playing at a high level, with Premier League sides also showing interest, but the prospect of European football at Ibrox could prove decisive.
With Hamza Igamane closing in on a move to Ligue 1 outfit Lille, Rangers are prioritising a new striker, with Vardy seen as a realistic and experienced option to bolster their attack.
