Sources: Arsenal braced for Kevin Betsy offers
Arsenal risk losing their Under-23s coach Kevin Betsy to an EFL club this summer, Football Insider understands.
The 44-year-old is on the target list of Football League sides eager to lure the next Steve Cooper.
An industry source has told Football Insider that Arsenal are braced for Betsy to receive offers from clubs now the domestic season has ended.
He is regarded as one of the best young coaches in the country after coming through the Football Association ranks to manage various England sides at youth level up to the Under-18s.
He took charge of Arsenal Under-23s last summer and guided them to third spot in Premier League 2 as well as taking the club’s Under-21s to the quarter-finals of the EFL Trophy.
Betsy is an attractive option for EFL clubs as he has followed the same path as the likes of Nottingham Forest’s Steve Cooper and new Watford boss Rob Edwards.
All have coached at England youth level before becoming major successes at club level.
The likes of Bukayo Saka, Eddie Nketiah and Emile Smith Rowe have all come through the Gunners’ esteemed academy system in recent years.
All three have played under Betsy during his time in the youth department at St George’s Park.
Charlton Athletic, Hartlepool United, Crawley Town, Blackburn Rovers and Queens Park Rangers are the five EFL clubs currently without a manager.
A Football League journeyman in his playing days, Betsy made over 600 appearances in an 18-year career.
