Campbell furious amid major reported Arteta update at Arsenal
Mikel Arteta should not take all the blame after Arsenal exited the Europa League – the players need to finally shoulder some responsibility.
That is according to ex-Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the Mirror claimed that the Spaniard will not be dismissed from his post.
Speculation is mounting regarding the future of the 39-year-old following the Gunners’ 2-1 aggregate defeat at the hands of Villareal.
That result means Arsenal are in serious danger of not competing in Europe next season for the first time since 1996.
But Campbell claims that the players and not the manager are to blame for the nadir.
He told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs: “The team were passive. I keep saying the same things week in, week out.

“Football isn’t just about talent. It’s about mindset and attitude. Arsenal do have talent but the mindset isn’t there.
“The manager carries the can at the end of the day. But as a player, when you cross that white line, you’ve got to go for it.
“You’ve got to have more about you than looking scared, you’ve got to be aggressive.
“Too many times this season, they have been passive. This was a great chance to get to a final with a 1-0 win.
“When they did put some patterns of play together, they nearly scored. But it’s not enough. You’re kidding yourself if you think that’s enough and the manager should always pay the price.”
Arsenal finished 8th under Arteta in 2019-20 but qualified for the Europa League after winning the FA Cup.
They are currently 9th in the table with four matches remaining.
