‘Arsenal could accept Ethan Nwaneri offer after PSR verdict’

Arsenal could accept an offer for Ethan Nwaneri if he does not commit his future to the club by signing a new contract.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson explained that the Gunners could take advantage of the opportunity to raise pure profit for PSR and FFP by selling the 18-year-old.

With just one year remaining on his deal and interest from the likes of Chelsea and Man City, a significant offer could tempt Mikel Arteta’s side to cash in.

Robinson told Football Insider on 13 July that Nwaneri could quit Arsenal amid suggestions he has been treated unfairly in contract negotiations.

This comes as Arsenal are pushing forward in deals to sign both Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze this summer, casting uncertainty of Nwaneri’s role in the squad.

Meanwhile, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 8 July that Nwaneri could quit Arsenal after talks with Arteta if he is not given assurances over his role.

Arsenal to make Ethan Nwaneri exit decision

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 7 July that Arsenal are determined to keep Nwaneri and have no intention of letting him leave this summer.

However, the midfielder remains in a strong position with his contract situation and could hold out either for a better contract or a move away if progress is not made.

Robinson explained that failure to agree terms over a new deal could see the Gunners look to cash in on the teenager to assist with their PSR situation.

Arsenal are looking to bring in Madueke in his position,” he told Football Insider.

“So where does that leave Nwaneri? His agent will be using that as leverage.

“With his contract coming to an end, he’s in a very strong position, and excellent position actually, it just depends on how long he’s willing to sit and hold out to get what he wants.

“He played six games for England’s Under-21s at the Euros where I thought he was excellent.

“With the competition for places coming in at Arsenal, it depends how far off he is on the pay grade.

“As an academy product as well, he’s 100 per cent profit for FFP and PSR.

“With a year left on his contract, that may be something Arsenal look to do.

“It’s an interesting one to keep an eye on, because there are many different variations of how this situation could play out at Arsenal.

“As I understand at the moment, he’s an academy product who hasn’t been offered the terms that he would be if a player of the same quality was being brought in.”

Eberechi Eze update emerges – ‘He wants to join’

Amid ongoing speculation surrounding the future of Nwaneri at the Emirates, Arteta is looking to strengthen his squad and is pushing to sign Crystal Palace’s Eze.

Football Insider revealed on 13 July that Arsenal are prepared to meet Eze’s release clause if they can reach an agreement over the payment structure.

While Oliver Glasner’s side are reluctant to let the England star leave, the two clubs are continuing in negotiations as Arsenal are unable to pay the full £68million up front.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed that Eze wants to join Arsenal as he wants to play Champions League football and compete for regular silverware.
