‘Arsenal delivered major striker warning following Viktor Gyokeres development’
Arsenal are desperate to bring in a striker this summer, with Viktor Gyokeres on their shortlist, but they have been handed a huge warning about the deal.
The Gunners have been crying out for a goalscoring number nine all season, after failing to buy a centre forward last summer.
As a result of the inactivity in the transfer market, Mikel Arteta was left with no choice but to utilise Mikel Merino up front when both Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus were out injured.
In the end, the North London side fell short again in the Premier League, as well as being knocked out of both the Champions League and the League Cup at the semi-final stage.

Arsenal to sign a striker
Football Insider exclusively revealed earlier this month (16 May) that Arsenal are in advanced talk to sign Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon.

Both Benjamin Sesko and Alexander Isak have been on the Gunners’ radar, but it seems as if they have opted for the former Coventry striker.
Speaking live on talkSPORT (29 May), former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor claimed that if the correct business is done in the summer, Arteta must win something next season.
He said: “If they go and get a striker, I don’t want to hear any excuses this time next year, they have to go and win trophies, the big trophies as well.
“His (Arteta’s) excuses are, ‘Oh we’ve had injuries’, everyone has injuries, Arsenal will have injuries next season.”
Arteta has one final chance
Football Insider Verdict
After Arsenal were dumped out of the Champions League by PSG, Arteta faced heavy criticism for once again failing to guide his side over the line.
The Gunners have finished runners-up in the last three Premier League campaigns, and haven’t won a trophy since beating Chelsea in the 2020 FA Cup final
Arteta is now under huge pressure at Arsenal, and if he goes another season without picking up a major piece of silverware, it is likely that he will lose his job.
There is no doubt that the Spaniard has done an exceptional job rebuilding the North London side, when you think about where they were when he took over.
However, the time for building is over, and Arsenal must take the next step immediately and begin winning the big honours.
