Arsenal Exclusive: Butler-Oyedeji wanted by Borussia Monchengladbach

Arsenal forward Nathan Butler-Oyedeji is being tracked by Borussia Monchengladbach, sources have told Football Insider.

The 21-year-old has scored five goals and provided two assists in five Premier League 2 games this season and is highly rated by coaches at the North London club.

He is now on the radar of multiple top clubs, with German giants Monchengladbach among those to have sent scouts to regularly watch him over the last few months.

Butler-Oyedeji impressed in pre-season with the Gunners and has since been named on the bench in the Premier League and Champions League.

He spent the first half of last season on loan at Cheltenham before he was recalled to Arsenal’s Under-21s side in January.

The striker found the net six times while setting up two assists in 14 games for the academy side upon his return to the Emirates last season.

Now, clubs across Europe are keeping a close eye on his situation and could use the allure of first-team football to draw him away from his boyhood club.

Butler-Oyedeji’s short spell with League One outfit Cheltenham saw him fail to find the net in 14 appearances, having also failed to find the net in 11 games with Accrington Stanley.

Despite not having yet scored his first goal in senior football, his displays in Arsenal’s academy have done enough to attract plenty of interest in his signature.

Interest in the striker follows a trend of Arsenal’s youngsters leaving in search of regular first-team football after Chido Obi-Martin left to join Man United.

However, his involvement in Mikel Arteta’s first-team squads for three games so far this season – including both of their European ties – has shown the club’s commitment to his development.

While he is yet to make his first-team debut for the Gunners, they are keen to show him he is valued and provide a clear pathway to senior football.

Despite that show of faith, Monchengladbach scouts have been in attendance at several of his academy games so far this season and last season with a view to making an official offer for his services.

This comes following Football Insider’s reveal in August that Belgian clubs Standard Liege and Eupen were considering a permanent move for his signature as interest continues to grow.
