Arsenal expert: ‘Deal will get done’ for Lisandro Martinez after journalist’s Man United bid update

Arsenal and Man United are “playing the game” in talks to sign Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez, according to Kevin Campbell.

The former Gunners and Everton striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, is adamant “a deal will get done” for the 24-year-old in the coming days or weeks.

Arsenal and United have both made bids for Martinez this summer.

According to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook (8 July), the Red Devils’ latest offer should be enough to convince Ajax to sell.

Martinez is said to have made it clear to the Dutch club that he wants to move to the Premier League.

His contract has three years remaining.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the latest, Campbell said: “You could say just pay it but both Arsenal and Man United are playing the game here.

“There is a deal to be done. Martinez wants to come to the Premier League.

“Maybe United have the slight edge because of Ten Hag, I get that. That doesn’t mean Arsenal don’t have a shot.

Man United

“Both clubs are jostling at the moment. This deal will get done. To which team, I am not sure. Man United look like the favourites.

“Even if Arsenal were to get him, he plugs a couple of holes. But he is only one player. They still need more. There are holes in our squad that need fixing.”

In other news, an Arsenal idol has issued a two-word verdict on Gabriel Magalhaes potentially quitting the club to join Juventus this summer.
