Arsenal facing 'huge loss' after update on 'electric' Saka pre-Man United clash - pundit
Arsenal could be missing “one of their best players” in Bukayo Saka if he is ruled out through injury against Man United on Thursday, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, was reacting to news of the 20-year-old’s latest fitness issue.
The England international opened the scoring at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday as Arsenal registered a 2-0 win over Newcastle.
However, later in the game Saka broke down and was replaced around the hour mark with Gabriel Martinelli.
Speaking after the match and quoted by football.london (27th November), manager Mikel Arteta said the Englishman “felt something” and “wasn’t comfortable to continue”.
He confirmed Saka would undergo a scan to assess the seriousness of the injury.

Arsenal face a double-header against Man United (December 2nd) and Everton (December 6th) in the next week.
Whelan suggested the Gunners will be desperate to have the “vitally important” Saka available.
“He has no fear and wears his heart on his sleeve – for Arsenal and England,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“He’s a crucial player, and at the weekend he proved that yet again. He’s electric on the ball, always getting forward into those dangerous areas. Once he gets there, he’s got a striker’s finish on him.
“He will be vitally important to any success Arsenal are going to have this season. You always need your quality players available and he’s one of the best players they have at the minute.
“He’ll be a huge loss if he can’t play against Man United.”
Arsenal star Saka already has 14 caps for England after making his debut in October 2020.
The midfielder has two goals and two assists in the league this term.
