Arsenal fans call on Wenger to start 31-year-old in FA Cup against Sutton

By Will Butcher

Arsenal fans are keen to see Mathieu Debuchy start against Sutton on Monday night after the Frenchman has recovered from a hamstring injury.

Debuchy, 31, could be one of a number of changes made by under-pressure manager Arsene Wenger, as he looks to avoid a cup upset against non-league Sutton in the FA Cup fifth round.

Former Newcastle right-back Debuchy has failed to feature for the Gunners since November, as his injury demons continue to haunt his north London stay.

The defender has made just one appearance for the Gunners this season, starting against Bournemouth but was withdrawn after just 16 minutes with a hamstring problem.

Arsenal fans are now hoping to see their number two start against Sutton, as the Gunners look to secure a victory and progress into the quarter-finals of FA Cup with Lincoln awaiting them.

Since his move to the Emirates from Newcastle back in the summer of 2014, Debuchy has managed to make just 23 appearances in all competitions for the Gunners.

Debuchy struggled with injury last term and was loaned to French outfit Bordeaux, where he made nine appearances before returning to north London in the summer.

In other Arsenal news, this 28-year-old Gunners star wants to leave the Emirates according to his agent.
