Arsenal supporters expressed their disbelief with the Sanchez news and are praying that the injury is not too damaging.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Arsenal have enjoyed a strong start to the season and are only two points behind league leader Liverpool in fourth-place, with Sanchez being used in a different role this campaign.

Arsene Wenger has decided to use the Chilean international to spearhead the attack and he is currently keeping Olivier Giroud out of the starting XI.

Sanchez has predominately played as a left winger during his career and has been phenomenal since his switch as the central striker.

The ex-Barcelona winger has become a firm favourite since he arrived at the Emirates and has made 108 appearances for the club, scoring 50 goals and supplying 30 assists.
