Arsenal fans have been left raving over the performance of Newcastle United midfielder Mikel Merino after his display against the Gunners on Saturday.
The young Spaniard was named among the starting XI by Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez, as he saw his side slip to their ninth successive match without a win.
Mesut Ozil opened the scoring for the Gunners in the first half with a sublime volley from just inside the box, and that was enough to ensure that his side left with all three points.
However, despite their own side securing victory, it was the performance of the man playing in black and white which impressed the Arsenal faithful, with fans turning to Twitter to voice their admiration for Merino.
Here, Football Insider has rounded up a selection of the supporters’ best tweets:
I have no clue how Newcastle got Merino. Massive prospect for Dortmund. Wouldn’t mind him replacing Ramsey when we let him go

Originally arriving at Newcastle on a year-long loan deal from German giants Borussia Dortmund, the 21-year-old midfielder has become a firm favourite among fans on Tyneside.
His displays saw the Magpies turn his temporary deal into a permanent one, signing a five-year contract, and has gone on to make a total of 15 appearances for the club, with a back injury ruling him out for a handful of games earlier in the campaign.
