Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Collymore dig at Ozil
By Dominic Toner
Stan Collymore delivered a harsh criticism of Mesut Ozil on Thursday night – and the Arsenal fans were quick to defend their player on Twitter.
Pundit Collymore claimed in the Mirror that the midfielder should not be considered in the world-class bracket.
He explained that Ozil must perform against the bigger teams to be regarded as a top player. This comes after his first career hat-trick against Bulgarian side Ludogorets on Wednesday in the Champions League.
Collymore’s comments have not gone down well with Arsenal supporters and they have reacted furiously, highlighting his recent goal in the win against Chelsea.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

I honestly can't take Stan Collymore seriously, the same guy who threw his career down the toilet is trying to judge Ozil. Behave yourself.

Basically that moron Collymore is calling out Ozil for not scoring against teams we haven't played, I.E Real Madrid.

lol Stan Collymore building a career off the ''Ozil isnt a big game player" hype train that ended in 2014.

I'm sure Ozil is gutted you say he isn't world class.I'm sure he played every game for a German team that won the world cup.

Ozil, 28, is adored by the Arsenal supporters and has become a fan favourite since his arrival in 2013 from Real Madrid.
The German international did score in the comfortable 3-0 win against Chelsea in September, but Collymore believes he still needs to perform more often on the bigger stage.
He will have the opportunity to respond in November, with the Gunners facing huge fixtures against the likes of Tottenham, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United.
Ozil has been a regular feature in the side making 127 appearances for the club, scoring 26 goals and supplying 44 assists.
The attacking midfielder has netted six goals in his first 10 appearances this season and appears to have added a strong threat going forward.
In the latest Arsenal news, Ozil will sign a new deal with the club on this major condition.
