Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Walcott display against Hull
By Amir Mir
Theo Walcott was substituted in the second half as Arsenal beat Hull 2-0 on Saturday afternoon – and fans on Twitter have slammed the attackers performance.
Alexis Sanchez gave Arsene Wenger’s side the lead in the first half when his goal went into the back of the net off his hand.
The Chilean international then made sure of all three points when he converted a penalty for the home team in stoppage time.
It means, at this moment in time, the north London club have closed the gap on Premier League leaders Chelsea to nine points.
However, Antonio Conte’s side can extend that lead once again when they travel to Burnley on Sunday afternoon.
Nonetheless, the Arsenal faithful were pretty critical of Walcott and his performance against the Tigers.
One supporter felt that Lucas Perez, who started on the bench for this match, should have started ahead of the England international.
Furthermore, another fan was criticising Walcott for his marking during corners as he felt he was always leaving his man unmarked.
Walcott was not the only player being criticised by the fans, playmaker Mesut Ozil was another facing their fury.
Along with Walcott’s inconsistencies, they felt that their German player was uninfluential throughout the game.
Overall, fans were not too pleased with Walcott’s display as Wenger’s side picked up a much-needed three points after recent damaging defeats.
