Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Xhaka display against Chelsea
By London correspondent Tony Hughes
Granit Xhaka came off the bench to play a pivotal role in Arsenal’s 3-0 triumph over Chelsea – and supporters took to Twitter to acclaim the midfielder.
The £34million summer signing was once again omitted from the starting line-up, as Arsene Wenger stuck with his preferred central midfield combination of Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin.
But the French midfielder only lasted 32 minutes of the clash before succumbing to injury, which paved the way for Xhaka to link up with Cazorla.
Arsenal were already 2-0 ahead when Xhaka came on and their maintained their dominance following his introduction in an outstanding first-half display.
The Switzerland international had scored long-range stunners in each of the Gunners’ previous two matches, against Hull in the Premier League and Nottingham Forest in the League Cup.
