Arsenal fans react on Twitter to Rob Holding display v Watford

By Harvey Byrne

Rob Holding started the match for Arsenal against Watford on Saturday, and supporters took to Twitter to applaud their new young centre-back.

The England Under-21 moved to the Gunners from Bolton earlier in the summer for £2million and the 20-year-old has not looked out of place in the Arsenal defence during his short time at the club.

The north London club are in advanced talks with Valencia defender Shkodran Mustafi, but Arsenal fans were clearly delighted with Holding after he gave another impressive 90 minutes for the club.

The match finished 3-1 to the Gunners  after an early penalty for Arsenal was converted calmly by Santi Cazorla, before goals from Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil. New Watford signing Roberto Pereyra got the consolation.

Fans of the north London side were clearly delighted with what they saw from Holding and thought he gave a performance above his years.

The Gunners are looking to mount a title charge in the new campaign 12 years on from their unbeaten Premier League season.

They host Southampton at home in their next fixture after the international break, before a Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain.

In other Arsenal team news, Transfer expert Emanuele Giulianelli has claimed that Arsene Wenger wanted to purchase Antoine Griezmann this summer.
