Arsenal have confirmed that striker Danny Welbeck is expected to return to training next week – and Arsenal fans are delighted.
The England international was ruled out of action for nine months with a knee injury, but after making excellent progress is set to return two months ahead of schedule.
Welbeck’s Arsenal career has been plagued by injuries, and his latest setback came in a 2-2 draw with Manchester City in May when he sustained cartilage damage.
That was just four months after returning from a 10-month absence through a knee injury.
However, the club’s latest announcement – made via Twitter – suggests he could be back in action very soon, which has pleased Arsenal fans.
Here are some of their messages on Twitter:
The long-awaited return means Welbeck could be available to face Bayern Munich in Arsenal’s Champions League knockout-stage clash in mid-February.
Since joining from rivals Manchester United in September 2014, the 26-year-old has scored 13 goals from 49 appearances in all competitions.
He will have to work very hard to get a place back in Arsenal’s first-team with Alexis Sanchez in such fantastic form. The Chile forward has contributed 14 goals and 11 assists from 22 games in all competitions.
In other Arsenal news, Jack Wilshere has revealed who he thinks is Arsenal’s best player – and it’s not Sanchez.
