Arsenal fans slam attacker on Twitter after landmark strike v Sutton

By Matt Farr

Arsenal forward Theo Walcott netted his 100th goal for the club in Monday night’s win over Sutton – but fans on Twitter still found reason to complain.

The 27-year-old became only the 18th player in Arsenal’s history to net 100 goals for the club, thanks to his second-half strike in their FA Cup fifth round meeting with the English minnows.

However, while some Arsenal fans took to social media to congratulate the England international on his remarkable achievement, a lot of others chose to slate him for the time it took him to reach the total.

Walcott took the longest out of any other player on the list to reach three figures, needing 370 appearances over 12 seasons to get there.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

In his defence, he has largely been restricted to role as a winger, while many others players on the list were outright strikers.

However, the former Southampton man has struggled for consistency, and his best haul in a single season was during the 2012-13 campaign, when here scored 21 goals in all competitions.

That was, though, the only season he has managed to reach double figures in the Premier League.

That barren streak looks set to be beaten this season, with Walcott currently on 15 goals from 26 appearances – including eight Premier League goals.

In other Arsenal news, the club are set for talks with this reported £44million-rated attacker.
