Arsenal fans want Ally McCoist ‘sacked’ after ‘scandalous’ Bukayo Saka claim

Arsenal fans were furious with Rangers legend Ally McCoist after he claimed Bukayo Saka doesn’t get into Man City’s starting eleven.

The 23-year-old was at his best in Arsenal’s 3-1 Premier League win over Southampton on Saturday, scoring once and providing two assists for Kai Havertz and Gabriel Martinelli.

Saka now boasts an impressive nine goal involvements across Arsenal’s first seven league games—more than the combined total of Jack Grealish, Jeremy Doku, Phil Foden, Bernardo Silva, and Savinho, who have seven.

McCoist isn’t the only pundit to have made this claim recently; even Arsenal legend Robert Pires suggested that Doku is better than the England international, although Saka and Pires have since made amends.

Thanks in no small part to the England international, Arsenal are once again in the race for the Premier League title, sitting in third place, equal on points with the current champions but one behind league leaders Liverpool.

Ally McCoist in the wrong about Arsenal star Bukayo Saka

The right winger has arguably been the best player in the Premier League this season, with only Cole Palmer and Erling Haaland involved in more goals.

Still, McCoist is unimpressed, telling TalkSPORT, “I really like him, I think he’s a terrific player. I think Salah is world-class, I think Saka is international-class and he has the potential to become world-class.

“So you can’t be throwing that about willy nilly. Do I like Saka? You better believe I do and he is absolutely vital to Arsenal. There is continued improvement in him but I would be reserving the world class just at the moment.

“Saka’s a top player, but does he get into Manchester City’s starting lineup? I’m not sure he would replace Doku or Grealish.

“Ahead of Savinho? I’m not sure.”

Arsenal fans took umbrage with what the Rangers legend had to say, taking to X, formally known as Twitter, to let him know how they felt.
