Arsenal fans will love what Viktor Gyokeres did immediately after scoring penalty
Arsenal thumped Leeds United 5-0 in the second Game Week of the new 2025-26 Premier League season.
Arsenal beat Manchester United last weekend and were looking to stay perfect against Daniel Farke‘s newly promoted Whites.
Mikel Arteta‘s men lived up to expectations with goals coming from Jurrien Timber, Bukayo Saka and new Arsenal signing Viktor Gyokeres.
Despite Gyokeres putting in a nightmare first-half display against Leeds, the Sweden international turned it around, with his second of the game coming from the penalty spot.

Viktor Gyokeres quick to thank Max Dowman for role in Arsenal penalty
Arsenal debutant, 15-year-old Max Dowman, was introduced after 64 minutes in place of Noni Madueke.
The teenager didn’t disappoint, with a fearless display causing supporters to sing his name loud and proud from the Emirates stands.
Although unlucky not to score himself, Dowman won Arsenal a penalty after he was brought down inside the area.
Even though Gyokeres pulled rank on spot kick duties, Arsenal’s No. 14 was quick to thank his teenage teammate.
“An emphatic penalty,” Gary Neville told Sky Sports during the match.
“A little hug with Max Dowman, who he thanks for that jinking run that won the penalty in the first place.”
The fact Arsenal’s most senior players have clearly accepted Dowman will delight fans.
Liverpool up next
Leeds United had the potential to be a banana skin, and although the Gunners came away the clear winners, Arteta will know tougher tests await.
Arsenal’s next match will see them travel to champions Liverpool in what is expected to be one of the standout fixtures before the end of the year.
For Dowman, the magnitude of next weekend’s fixture will likely see him dropped back to the bench.
However, make no mistake, should the Gunners find themselves in a favourable position, fans could be treated to another cameo from the teenager.
