Kieran Maguire slams ‘scattergun’ Arsenal as he drops ‘£560m’ reveal after Kroenke hint
No one can accuse the Kroenkes of failing to back Arsenal in the transfer market – but the standard of recruitment has been sub-par.
So says finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about recent comments made by Stan and Josh Kroenke.
Writing in their pre-match programme notes prior to last Sunday’s 3-0 loss to Chelsea, the father-son duo hinted that more transfers are in the works.

As relayed by The Mirror on 22 August, they claimed the “transfer team has been working hard behind the scenes to improve the squad further.”
Arsenal have spent £132million on Ben White, Martin Odegaard, Aaron Ramsdale, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Nuno Tavares this summer.
But Maguire insists that Arsenal’s recruitment problem does not stem from a lack of investment.
He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams “There are two major issues here, a quantitative issue and a qualitative issue.
“What we have seen with Arsenal is that they have been detached from the other elite clubs in terms of wages.
“But they have spent a lot of money in recent years. For all of the criticisms that have been levelled at the Kroenkes, that isn’t one.

“From the accounts, they spent £560m in the four most recent seasons. That takes us up to the summer of 2019-20. Clearly, they’ve spent since then as well.
“The issue that Arsenal have had is that it’s been a bit of a scattergun approach and hasn’t improved the quality of the team.“
