Arsenal have teenager ‘as devastating’ as Bukayo Saka on their books – expert

Kevin Campbell has heaped praise on Arsenal winger Marquinhos for his “sensational” start to life at the club.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners and Everton striker said the 19-year-old is “as devastating” as Bukayo Saka on the right-hand side.

As shown on BT Sport (8 September), Marquinhos starred on his debut for Arsenal against FC Zurich.

The summer signing contributed a goal and an assist in a 2-1 win over the Swiss side.

As reported by the Evening Standard‘s Simon Collings (19 August), Arsenal ruled out a loan exit for the Brazilian winger in the summer after he impressed manager Mikel Arteta in pre-season.

When asked if the Gunners have serious competition and cover for Saka in Marquinhos, Campbell told Football Insider: “He looked sensational.

“He was Arsenal’s best player and the best player on the pitch if you ask me.

“For someone so young, he is strong. He has speed and man strength which is good. I thought he was direct which I like.

“Marquinhos is a little bit different to Saka but he is still as devastating.

“He scored a great goal. He made up serious ground to get on the end of the cross. What a finish as well.

“He also showed great emotion. You could see how much it meant to him.

“He was rightly man of the match. What an impressive debut for a very good young player.”
