Arsenal hit by another crushing injury blow as doctor updates on Martin Odegaard

Arsenal have been dealt a huge injury blow ahead of the North London derby after Martin Odegaard hobbled off during Norway’s Nations League match against Austria.

The Gunners captain was involved in a clash with Christoph Baumgartner, where he went over on his ankle.

The 25-year-old playmaker was unable to continue in the match as he was helped off the field while being visibly upset.

Norway manager Ola Solbakken admitted that Odegaard’s injury “looked bad,” while the doctor Ola Sand confirmed he has an ankle sprain.

The injury casts major question marks over whether he will be fit enough to feature in Sunday’s match against Tottenham Hotspur as the Premier League returns.

Odegaard has played in all three of Arsenal’s games from the first whistle this season, with Mikel Arteta relying on his creativity.

Odegaard’s injury will add to Arteta’s growing list of problems after Riccardo Calafiori was also injured during the international break.

That’s on top of Mikel Merino’s injury and Declan Rice’s suspension, which are depleting Arteta’s options.

Odegaard has been a consistent member of Arsenal’s team since joining the club in 2021, making 156 appearances for the club.
