Arsenal hit by David Raya injury scare as tunnel footage revealed

Arsenal have been handed an injury scare after David Raya was seen limping after the 2-2 draw against Man City on Sunday (22 September).

The defending Premier League champions secured a point against their title rivals when John Stones scored a 98th-minute equaliser after the Gunners had been leading since the first half.

However, concern for Mikel Arteta will now turn to his goalkeeper as Raya was seen limping after the game.

The 29-year-old was filmed heading out of the stadium after the game with strapping around his knee as he limped out of the Etihad.

Raya played the entire game against Man City and didn’t have to be substituted, therefore it is unclear what caused the issue.

The goalkeeper received high praise from fans and media alike in midweek after his double save from an Atalanta United penalty helped the Gunners secure a point in their opening Champions League game.

Arsenal could lose David Raya for upcoming fixtures

Raya played a key role in Arsenal’s game against Man City, making nine saves throughout the game to help his team secure a point.

The Spain international beat out competition from Aaron Ramsdale last season to secure himself as Arsenal’s first-choice goalkeeper, and he has played every minute so far in this campaign.

Raya has kept four clean sheets in six games in all competitions, only conceding three goals.

Arsenal sold Ramsdale to Southampton during the summer transfer window, leaving themselves short in terms of cover for Raya.

Tommy Setford and Jack Porter are two options available and could be handed minutes in the League Cup in midweek as Arteta’s side faces Bolton.
