‘Arsenal hit by new transfer blow’ – fans stunned by David Ornstein update
Arsenal have suffered a significant blow in their efforts to strengthen their squad after one of their targets has agreed to join another club.
Mikel Arteta is looking to bring new signings in after missing out on the Premier League title again in the 2024-25 campaign.
The Gunners finished second in the table for a third year in a row as Liverpool got their hands on the trophy in their first season under Arne Slot.
Arsenal failed to claim any silverware across the campaign, with their last major trophy coming back in 2020 when they beat Chelsea in the FA Cup final.
Viktor Gyokeres has been linked with a move to Arsenal this summer following his performances for Sporting Lisbon over the past couple of years.
The 27-year-old has registered 97 goals and 28 assists in 102 appearances since joining the Portuguese side in a £20million deal from Coventry City in 2023.
However, Manchester United are also racing to sign Gyokeres as Ruben Amorim looks to link up with the forward again following their time together at Sporting.

Arsenal suffer Leroy Sane blow after deal agreed
Leroy Sane has been another target for Arsenal this summer as he heads into the final weeks of his contract at Bayern Munich.
Arteta worked with the Germany international during his time as Pep Guardiola’s assistant at Manchester City.
Arsenal’s chances of signing Sane have now been dealt a major blow after The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported on 11 June he’s agreed to join Galatasaray.
Ornstein said a broad agreement has been reached over a three-year contract worth up to £12.7million a year.
Fans have been left stunned by that development, with many questioning how the Turkish side can afford to pay such a big salary.

Arsenal miss out on transfer target after delay
Ornstein revealed Arsenal were strong contenders to sign Sane when his contract expires on 30 June.
However, the Gunners were considering their options, while the 29-year-old wanted an immediate resolution.
Arteta will no doubt be disappointed to have missed out on signing Sane on a free transfer, with the winger still possessing the quality to make a difference.
The German registered 13 goals and six assists in 45 appearances for Bayern Munich in the 2024-25 season.
Emirates chiefs will now go back to the drawing board as they look to get their first summer signing over the line.
