Arsenal idol issues ‘100 per cent’ verdict after Nuno Tavares footage emerges
Kevin Campbell has claimed the decision to send Nuno Tavares and Folarin Balogun out on loan has already been vindicated at Arsenal.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Gunners and Everton striker said the club were “100 per cent” right to allow the two fringe players to leave on temporary deals.
Tavares, 22, and Balogun, 21, joined Marseille and Reims respectively at the turn of the month.
The Arsenal duo will spend the entirety of the 2022-23 season on loan with the Ligue 1 clubs.
As shown on BT Sport (14 August), Tavares scored his second goal in as many games as Marseille drew 1-1 at Brest.
Balogun has also been among the goals in Ligue 1.
The centre-forward has contributed two goals and an assist in his two games for Reims.
When asked by Football Insider if the loanee’s early success vindicates Arsenal’s decision to send them out on loan, Campbell said: “100 per cent.
“[William] Saliba went out on loan, came back and now he is ready.
“Nuno Tavares struggled at times last season. He started off well but struggled come the end of the season.
“Going away and playing regularly is important. You learn your trade by playing games.
“He has played well so far and scored a really good goal. It is very good to see.
“It is the same with Balogun. He has gone to Reims and is scoring. That is all you can ask for from your striker.
“I think it is really important that these players play football. If you do not play football you will not develop properly. You need to play week in, week out. It is nice to see them both playing well.”
