Arsenal idol issues ‘amazing’ Hector Bellerin claim after £8.5m update

Kevin Campbell has insisted wantaway Arsenal star Hector Bellerin has “no future” at the club despite being named in the squad for the pre-season tour of the United States.

The former Gunners striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted Mikel Arteta’s side are “not a charity” and should demand a fee for the 27-year-old right-back.

Arsenal confirmed on Wednesday (13 July) that Bellerin is part of the 33-man squad to travel to the USA as the Londoners ramp up their pre-season preparations.

The Spain international, who made 32 appearances on loan at Real Betis last term, has just one year left on his contract at the Emirates Stadium.

The Daily Mirror claim (18 June) Bellerin is willing to waive the remainder of his £100,000-a-week salary in order to force a return to Spain.

However, the newspaper report that Arsenal are holding out for an £8.5million fee in order to part with the lightning-quick defender.

When asked if he could see any future for Bellerin at the Emirates, Campbell told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “No, no future.

“I just think the quicker he gets sorted out, the better.

“He thought Betis would want to sign him permanently, but they just don’t have the money.

“It’s funny how a lot of these clubs have the money to sign other players, but never have the money to sign Arsenal players. It’s amazing.

“But Arsenal are not a charity. If someone comes and stumps up the money, then by all means – they can have the player.”
