Arsenal idol issues ‘crazy’ verdict after twist in Bukayo Saka controversy – ‘what is going on?’
Kevin Campbell is baffled by the offside technology not working in the opening stages of Liverpool’s loss to Arsenal on Sunday.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners and Everton striker said “it is crazy” considering the amount of money invested in the technology.
Mikel Arteta’s side took the lead in the opening minute of the game through Gabriel Martinelli.
VAR reviewed the goal for a possible offside but eventually ruled that Bukayo Saka was onside.
In a new twist, the Liverpool Echo reported (11 October) that Gabriel Martinelli’s opening goal against the Reds was unable to be checked by VAR properly due to a technical issue.
The VAR official was unable to draw the virtual lines needed to make an accurate decision because of the problem.
When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the offside call at the start of the 3-2 win for Arsenal, Campbell said: “There were no 50ps to put in the metre!
“Look, I do not know what is going on or how that has happened. It is crazy. The thing is, even when VAR does work it gets the decisions wrong.

“It was a very tight call though. I do not think Saka was gaining an advantage even if he was a toe offside.
“We pay all of this money for the technology and it does not work or it is used incorrectly by the officials.”
