Arsenal in advanced talks with Bukayo Saka and one other superstar

Arsenal are advancing in contract talks to get their star players tied down to new contracts, with Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber next on their list.

Football Insider revealed on 26 October that Saka is edging closer to an agreement with Arsenal on a deal which could be worth over £300,000 per week.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, contract talks with the 24-year-old are progressing well, while negotiations over Timber‘s future are ongoing after what has been an excellent start to the season for him.

Timber has been outstanding for Arsenal this season and has quickly established himself as a key player in Mikel Arteta‘s side and as one of the best right-backs in Europe.

Having joined the club in 2023, his contract is set to run until 2028, but the club are keen to reward him with an extended deal to recognise his value to their side.

Arteta’s side have been praised for being proactive in contract talks, with William Saliba recently extending his stay at Arsenal and talks elsewhere progressing.

Saka and Timber have been instrumental in the Gunners’ success so far this season, and contract talks are ongoing with hope they can be resolved soon.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “Yeah, I think for certain it’s something that they will get to, as you said, it’s probably not the priority right now.

“Obviously Arsenal are working on contracts for some of their key players, the likes of Bukayo Saka and Jurrien Timber as they want to get them tied down.

“I think that’s been more of a priority for them, agreeing terms with these top players.

“Those talks are going well and they are confident they can reach an agreement soon.

“But look, Arteta’s contract will take care of itself. I’ve got no doubts about that. Arteta’s happy at Arsenal. Arsenal are obviously very happy with him.”

This comes amid speculation about Arteta’s contract, with his deal set to expire at the same time as Saka’s in 2027, but talks with the boss have not started as the players will be prioritised.

Mikel Arteta contract update emerges at the Emirates

Football Insider revealed on 14 November that Arsenal plan to open talks with Arteta in the near future as they continue their progress towards winning major siverware.

The boss’ current contract is set to expire in 2027, but there is a growing desire for him to extend his stay and help further the club’s ambitious plans.

Contract talks with Arteta are not a priority for the Gunners as things stand, but could progress in 2026 with all parties keen to reach an agreement.

Arsenal are currently top of the Premier League table and second in the Champions League, and have been widely tipped as leading candidates for both trophies.

That has taken priority over Arteta‘s situation as things stand, but with around 18 months left on his current terms, they are making plans for the future.
