Arsenal ‘keeping tabs’ on Kingsley Coman ahead of January swoop – Transfer guru

Arsenal officials have been keeping tabs on Kingsley Coman’s situation at Bayern Munich as they weigh up a potential January move.

That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that scouts have been in attendance to watch the 28-year-old this season.

This comes after Football Insider revealed that the Gunners are looking to add more firepower to Mikel Arteta’s side this month after Bukayo Saka’s injury.

The winger is set to be sidelined for months after he underwent surgery following a hamstring injury picked up during the 5-1 win against Crystal Palace in December.

On top of that, Brown previously told Football Insider that Arteta is unhappy with the makeup of his squad in the wide areas amid frustration about Gabriel Martinelli’s displays.

As a result, they have turned to the transfer market to assess potential alternatives, and there is a long-held admiration for Coman.

The Frenchman’s experience playing for and winning trophies with top-level teams across Europe has placed him high on their list of targets.

Coman lifted two Ligue 1 titles, a French League Cup and a French Super Cup with PSG, two Serie A titles, an Italian Cup and an Italian Super Cup with Juventus, and eight Bundesliga titles, six German Super Cups, three German Cups, a Champions League and the Club World Cip with Bayern.

Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after spending over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that winning experience is a major factor in Arsenal’s interest in the winger.

Kingsley Coman has always been a very tidy player,” he told Football Insider.

“I must admit I’ve not watched him in a while, but if he’s anything like the player he used to be, it doesn’t surprise me to hear Arsenal have been looking at him.

“I’m told they’ve had scouts in Germany keeping tabs on him and they’ll know what his level is.

“There’s always been plenty of interest there from Premier League clubs because he’s got a very good reputation within the game.

“He’s got great experience, ability and know-how, so somebody like him would be ideal for Arsenal.

“He’s won countless trophies, and that’s maybe something Arsenal have lacked in their squad, players that has experience lifting league titles wherever they’ve been.

“So I’d expect they will be interested and could make a move if they feel he is the right man.”
