Arsenal land stunning £78m boost – could rise to £100m+

Arsenal have already secured £78million worth of Champions League prize money this season, Football Insider can reveal.

The Gunners have reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League for the first time since 2010 after their dramatic penalty shootout win against Porto on Tuesday evening (12 March).

The North London side published their 2022-23 accounts in February which revealed that the club made just over £21million from their Europa League campaign last season.

European prize money this year will contribute to the club’s 2023-24 accounts and provide a major boost to their Financial Fair Play calculations.

As per official Uefa documents, Arsenal immediately banked £13million in starting fees for qualifying for the competition, £21million from their Uefa coefficient ranking and £15million from the UK broadcasting market pool.

Can Arsenal go on to win the Champions League this season?

Mikel Arteta’s side then finished top of Group B with four wins and a draw – earning the club over £10million for their group stage results.

Reaching the last 16 of the competition is worth £8.2million and their progress to the quarter-finals added £9million to the prize pot.

Overall, Arsenal have already secured £78million but they can continue to grow that figure to over £100million if they go on to win the competition.

A place in the semi-finals would earn the club £10.5million, finalists bank £13million and the winners are handed an additional £4million.

Manchester City earned £110million for their Champions League success last season and the Gunners could match that by achieving European glory this year.
