Arsenal news: Campbell ‘loves’ what he’s heard from opposition players after footage emerges

Kevin Campbell “loves” hearing opposition players complain about Arsenal celebrating.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners and Everton striker said the emotional post-match scenes are part of Mikel Arteta’s side’s mental and physical “strengthening.”

Arsenal tightened their grip on fourth spot with a 1-0 win at Aston Villa on Saturday.

Speaking to Villa TV after the game (19 March), Ashley Young took issue with the way in which the Gunner players celebrated at full-time.

He accused Arteta’s side of celebrating “like they won the league” at Villa Park.

It was not the first time this season that an opposition player has aimed a dig at Arsenal for their post-match behaviour.

Ruben Neves criticised the Gunners for their celebrations at Molineux last month.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on Young’s comments, Campbell said: “Bring it on.

“I do not mind players saying this because it is all part and parcel of Arsenal strengthening mentally and physically. It is important.

“Do you remember when Liverpool beat Wolves 1-0? They celebrated big time but nobody batted an eyelid.

“That is because everyone knows the bigger picture with Liverpool. When Arsenal do it, it’s a problem. I love it. Bring it on.”

Speaking on the post-match scenes, Young said: “The way Arsenal celebrated at the end, it was as if they had already qualified for the Champions League.

“You want it to be a hard place to come, Villa Park, that is the ambition of the club, and it shows that they do see this as a big three points.”
