Arsenal news: Pundit ‘sure’ on Tammy Abraham deal after £50m update – ‘incredible’
Noel Whelan has urged Arsenal to do a deal for “incredible” Roma striker Tammy Abraham this summer.
The former Leeds forward, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Gunners won’t be the only team in the hunt for the 24-year-old in the main transfer window.
According to the Daily Star (23 April), Arsenal are set to renew their interest in Abraham with a £50million offer this summer if they secure Champions League football for next season.
As per the report, the striker’s former club Chelsea have a £68million buy-back option which can be activated from next summer.
Abraham has netted 24 goals in 46 games this season – his first campaign outside of English football.
Whelan claimed the England international could be one of “two or three” strikers who join Arsenal this summer.
“I think Tammy Abraham is an incredible player,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“When he was at Chelsea, I was screaming out for a team to go out and get him. He chose to go to Roma, and he’s been a success there as well.
“He’s still young, and he’s got the best years of his career ahead of him. I’m sure it won’t just be Arsenal looking at him, that’s for sure.
“He leads the line so well. Good in the air, good on the floor, and a real poacher’s instinct.
“They’re going to need to go out and get two or three forward players this summer at Arsenal, but he’s someone who will definitely complement them – there’s no doubt about that.”

Arsenal are in the box seat to secure fourth place and Champions League football.
Abraham has netted 26 goals in 89 Premier League games so far.
