Arsenal news: This may be real reason Gabriel Magalhaes set to reject Barcelona after stance confirmed – expert

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes will be “flattered” by interest from Barcelona but “wants to be a part” of Mikel Arteta’s project.

That is the view of former Gunners and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 24-year-old’s future at the Emirates.

Gabriel has been one of Arsenal’s standout performers this season.

According to Football.London‘s Chris Wheatley (13 April), Barcelona are interested in signing the centre-half this summer.

Gabriel is said to be top of the list to replace Clement Lenglet and Samuel Umtiti at the Nou Camp.

Speaking to Premier League predictions, as quoted by the Mirror (15 April), Gabriel distanced himself from a move to La Liga.

The Brazilian said he “feels at home” in north London.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his reaction to the latest, Campbell said: “He seems very settled.

“Listen, they are building something there. We know that and we can see that. Gabriel is started to see that Arteta is building something very promising. It is by no means done yet but we are moving in the right direction.

“I’m sure it is flattering that Barcelona are interested but he is loyal to Arsenal. He can see there is a project at Arsenal and he wants to be a part of it.

“Gabriel is a couple of seasons in now and the hope is that he will get even better next season. That’s what I expect.”
