Report: Chelsea return with increased bid for PL 23-year-old, manager a huge admirer
By Abigail Withey
Chelsea have submitted a new bid of £35million for Arsenal playmaker Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to a report.
The Daily Star has revealed that the Blues have raised their bid after they initially offered £25 million for the 23-year-old.
The newspaper claims that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte is a huge fan of the Ox and has personally targeted the Gunners star.
It is understood that the Premier League champions have raised their offer after their Portuguese manager became frustrated at the club’s lack of transfer activity over the summer months.
The Arsenal star has just one year remaining on his contract with the Gunners and according to the Daily Star he has demanded £120,000-a-week wages to renew his deal at the Emirates.

The report states that the England international is attracted by the suggestion of a Stamford Bridge move as it appears as though he will receive a higher wage in addition to playing in the Champions League.
Conte was able to see Oxlade-Chamberlain in action first hand on Sunday when the attacker played the full 90 minutes and scored the third goal of the Gunners’ winning penalty shoot out against Chelsea in the Community Shield.
Football Insider verdict:
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has grown significantly since joining the club as a teenager back in 2011, but his relationship with the Gunners appears to have turned sour over recent months. The 23-year-old is a favourite among fans and fellow team-mates and a departure from the Emirates would be devastating for the club. He displayed an impressive performance during the Community Shield and proved that he is worthy of both starting and playing the full 90 minutes of a match. However, over the past season the England star has played in a number of positions and has failed to lock down a regular role. If he moved to Chelsea this could change, but he could just as easily find himself warming the bench again. Arsenal fans will be hoping he stays, signs the contract Arsenal are offering, and knuckles down into his new wing-back role that could finally see him realise his true talent.
