Arsenal ‘plan’ to accept Gabriel Jesus offer, likely destination revealed

Arsenal are planning to accept offers for Gabriel Jesus in the January transfer window following his imminent return from a long-term injury.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Mikel Arteta had initially planned to move the 28-year-old on during the summer.

However, Jesus suffered a cruciate ligament injury during Arsenal’s FA Cup defeat to Man United in January, preventing him from securing a move away so far.

Football Insider revealed in September that Arsenal are planning to sell Jesus when the mid-season window opens, with that move likely to be accelerated by his return to fitness.

The striker is back in training and stepping up his recovery, with a return to first-team action expected before the mid-season window opens.

Arsenal plan to accept Gabriel Jesus offer in January

Brown told Football Insider in September that Arteta is planning to sell Jesus in an attempt to raise funds and trim fringe players from his squad in January.

The former scout, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, explained that he expects the former Man City striker to move on should a formal offer arrive.

Gabriel Jesus will be one to watch in January,” he told Football Insider.

“From what I hear, they’ve been open to moving him on for a while but this injury he’s had has stopped them from making any progress with that.

“If he’s back to playing before the window opens, it’s going to be a possibility again.

“He’s struggled to hold down a place in the starting XI for a while, and now with Gyokeres there it’s going to be even harder for him.

“So if an offer comes in for him during the window, Arsenal will be open to letting him go.

“He’s not going to be the difference between them winning or losing games at this stage, he’s been on the fringes of the squad, so there are doubts about his future.

“Whether it’s a move back to Brazil or somewhere else in Europe, I’m sure he will be keen to play more regularly than he will be if he stays at Arsenal.”

Jesus set for move to Brazil with Palmeiras

Football Insider revealed in August that Jesus remains a wanted man in Brazil, and Arsenal were prepared to give the green light for his exit in the summer.

That interest from his home country is believed to have lingered, and the former Man City man could be tempted to make the switch as they pull at his heartstrings.

Jesus has hinted at staying at Arsenal beyond the January window when speaking to Brazilian media, admitting there has been no contact with other clubs.

However, the striker also confessed that he is interested in a return to Palmeiras, with his former club also interested in a reunion should the opportunity present itself.

Palmeiras are the front-runners to sign Jesus after their club president expressed his desire to bring the Brazil international “home” during a recent interview.
