Arsenal plan to sell Gabriel Jesus and sign ‘big-money’ star – sources

Arsenal are ready to listen to offers to sell forward Gabriel Jesus this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed the Gunners are willing to offload Jesus to raise some funds to bring in a “big-money signing” to replace him.

The Brazilian international had a solid first season at the Emirates, having scored 11 Premier League goals following his arrival from Manchester City in 2022.

But O’Rourke admitted the 27-year-old’s injury problems this campaign will be a “big issue” for Arsenal and has put a question mark over his long-term future in North London.

The club could now be in the market for a striker who can score 25 goals a season to replace Jesus, who is under contract at the Emirates until 2027.

Gabriel Jesus could be heading for Arsenal exit

It’s been a largely disappointing season for Jesus after scoring just eight goals in 33 appearances, only four of which have come in the Premier League.

That’s seen his place in the starting lineup come under threat, given that he’s registered just one league goal since the turn of the year.

O’Rourke revealed Arsenal will be looking to bring in a “difference maker” in the forward department this summer as they look to compete for more trophies in the coming years.

Jesus now only has a few games left to go this season to show the Gunners chiefs why they should give him another chance to prove his worth ahead of the next campaign.

That decision may already have been made, however, as the club are likely scouring the market for potential targets this summer.
