Arsenal player ratings v Manchester City: Weak link is 4/10

By Dominic Toner

Football Insider rates the Arsenal players after their 2-2 draw against Manchester City in the Premier League.

David Ospina 6 – Made a couple of decent saves as his defence was exposed, but should be disappointed with leaking two goals.

Hector Bellerin 4 – Should have done a lot better for the opening goal as Leroy Sane managed to wriggle free and score. The Man City winger had the better of Bellerin all game and the Spaniard’s form is. Real concern.

Shkodran Mutsafi 6 – He was guilty of a couple of errors during the match, but did manage to score an equalising goal with a header from a corner.

Laurent Koscielny 5 – The French centre-back was unable to cope with the Man City attack and went off at half-time with an Achilles injury.

Nacho Monreal 6 – The left-back looked uncomfortable against Raheem Sterling defensively. However, he did support the attack well and overlapped Alexis Sanchez frequently.

Francis Coquelin 5 – The combative midfielder lacked a real presence in the centre of the park and couldn’t dominate possession.

Granit Xhaka 5 – His disciplinary record continues to be a concern and that area of his game needs addressing urgently. Looked steady in possession, but nothing special.

Theo Walcott 6 – The attacker scored the first equalising goal with a simple finish, but worked hard for the side.

Mesut Ozil 5 – He returned to the side and showed some glimpses of quality, but was unable to really pull the strings and was shy in the challenges.

Alexis Sanchez 6 – Sanchez was a good threat for the Gunners and looked a danger throughout, but was unable to threaten the goal.

Danny Welbeck 5 – The striker battled well up top, but didn’t get much change out of the Man City centre-backs. Yet to recapture his best form.

Gabriel (for Koscielny 45mins) 6

Olivier Giroud (for Walcott 68mins) 6

Alex Iwobi (for Welbeck 77mins)
