Arsenal plot move to sign ‘the next Martin Odegaard’ after scouting mission
Arsenal are among a number of clubs plotting a move to sign Real Madrid sensation Arda Guler in the summer transfer window.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that scouts have been keeping an eye on the 20-year-old.
His ability to play both in midfield and on the wing has placed him firmly on Arsenal’s list, and they could make a move for his signature this summer.
The deal is considered similar to their signing of Martin Odegaard, who had struggled for playing time in Madrid before becoming a star at the Emirates.
Since his £17.1million move from Fenerbahce last summer, Guler has started just 12 of his 34 appearances and has largely struggled to make an impact for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.
However, he is still considered among the leading young talents in Europe and a number of clubs across the continent have been keeping an eye on his situation.

Arsenal plot move to sign Real Madrid star Arda Guler
Brown told Football Insider in September that Arsenal want to sign an alternative to Odegaard amid concerns about the strength in depth in their squad.
Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has revealed the Arsenal recruitment team will make a decision about their move for Guler.
“Arsenal scouts have been watching him on a number of occasions,” he told Football Insider.
“It reminds me of the Odegaard deal a bit, he’s struggled at Madrid but could be given a chance at Arsenal.
“It can be difficult to make a true assessment about his abilities when he’s only making appearances from the bench, so it’s something they’ll be working hard on.
“I would have reservations about the deal because if he isn’t good enough for Real Madrid, I don’t think he can be the answer to Arsenal’s problems.
“But he’s certainly one they’ve been looking at and one they could move for if he is available.
“They want to add depth to their team because that’s where they’ve been lacking.
“I don’t think they’ll be the only ones looking because he’s certainly a bright talent.”

Mikel Arteta eyes Anthony Gordon deal after Newcastle latest
A number of incoming signings are being eyed at the Emirates as Arteta plans to compete for the Premier League title once again next season.
Brown told Football Insider on 15 April that Arsenal want to sign Anthony Gordon from Newcastle to add more quality to the wide areas.
The winger’s agent has been circulating his name as a potential option in recent weeks and is said to be driving the speculation about his future.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider Newcastle could accept “huge” offers for Gordon if they are forced to sell before they can spend this summer.
