Arsenal sensation Ethan Nwaneri set to sign record-breaking deal after Man City offer – sources
Arsenal midfield sensation Ethan Nwaneri will sign his first professional deal at the club after returning from England Under-17 duty this week, sources have told Football Insider.
The wonderkid is now 17 and can put pen to paper on his first contract at the Emirates Stadium.
The 2007-born star has already agreed terms on a deal that will see him given the highest-ever wages for an academy player in Arsenal’s history.
Nwaneri’s scholarship agreement will be converted into a professional deal to fend off interest from elite Premier League clubs.
Man City made a substantial offer for the teenager’s services while Chelsea also held a strong interest.
But Nwaneri has chosen to remain at Arsenal and work under Mikel Arteta, who gave him a senior debut at just 15 years and 181 days old in 2022 – making him the youngest-ever Premier League player.
He has made a senior Arsenal matchday squad six more times this season and came off the bench for a 13-minute cameo away at West Ham last month.
The attacking midfielder, who can also play out wide and as a centre-forward, is prolific at youth level for club and country.
He scored in three straight England Under-17 internationals against Northern Ireland, Hungary and France this month.

Nwaneri is now established in Arsenal’s Under-21 side alongside fellow 17-year-old Myles Lewis-Skelly.
The Gunners’ senior side sit top of the Premier League with 10 games of this season to play and also face a Champions League quarter-final tie against Bayern Munich next month.
