‘Arsenal set for Leandro Trossard decision as Eberechi Eze deal nears’

Leandro Trossard could be set for a summer exit from Arsenal as the club push ahead with a deal to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace.

Trossard joined the Gunners from Brighton midway through the 2022/23 campaign after netting seven goals in 16 Premier League appearances at the start of the season.

The Belgium international hasn’t always been first-choice at the Emirates Stadium but has proven himself a key squad member, filling in right across the front line when required.

And the forward has been a regular source of output in the final third, registering 28 goals and 23 assists in 124 appearances across all competitions — including eight goals and eight assists in the Premier League last season.

Leandro Trossard on Bayern Munich’s radar

Trossard turns 31 midway through the upcoming campaign and has just one more year left to run on his current Arsenal deal.

With that in mind, Arsenal might feel now is the time to cash in on the wideman while they still can.

And the Gunners might have the perfect solution, with Bild’s Christian Falk reporting that Bayern Munich have Trossard on their shortlist.

The former Genk man is understood to be one of the back-up targets should the Bavarians miss out on Liverpool’s Luis Diaz.

Trossard recently switched agents to Dirk Hebel, who is from Germany.

Eze deal could decide Trossard future

Arsenal might feel more comfortable letting Trossard leave if they can complete a deal for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze.

Indeed, that’s the way the wind seems to be blowing, with Football Insider transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealing the Gunners are willing to meet the England international’s £68million release clause (13 July).

It seems they are willing to try and meet that release clause for Eze,” he said.

“It’ll be more the structure of how that £68million is paid, how much money is paid up front, maybe the rest in instalments that Arsenal will be negotiating.

“It could be a real statement of intent for Arsenal after they signed Noni Madueke and are still trying to sign Viktor Gyokeres as well.

“Talks are ongoing between the two clubs, but it would be a big blow for Palace to lose him.

“Palace will demand that they do get the full release clause, but they probably won’t be able to get it all up front.

“Arsenal won’t be able to splash out £68million straight away, that might be too much for FFP and PSR.

“They want to knock down the up-front payment a bit and pay the rest in instalments.

“It looks like Arsenal are making headway in their pursuit of Eze, so there’s exciting times ahead for the Gunners in the next couple of weeks.”
