Kieran Maguire shreds ‘out of touch’ Kroenkes as details of new Arsenal appointment emerge

A cultural reset is needed at Arsenal in order to repair the breakdown of the relationship with the fans.

That is the view of finance guru Kieran Maguire, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the failings of the Kroenke family.

The Athletic reported on Monday (18 April) that the Gunners have appointed a consultancy firm to carry out a review of the club’s culture.

The People-Made agency will be responsible for the investigation and for instigating any subsequent reforms.

It is understood that the root-and-branch review has been backed at ownership level by the Kroenkes.

Maguire insists that change is necessary to address the “out of touch” owners and their lack of connection with the Emirates supporters.

I don’t think there is a huge downside unless it comes with a big fee,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“There has clearly been a breakdown in the relationship with many of the fans at Arsenal.

“They feel that the Kroenkes are out of touch and don’t understand football. The lack of success on the pitch exacerbates that frustration.

“It smacks of middle management. Never mind the buzzword and focus groups, you only need to talk to the fans to understand the frustration.”

Stan Kroenke has taken more of a backseat at Arsenal in recent years, with son Josh taking the reins and acting as the public face of the club.
