‘Arsenal stand no chance against Real Madrid’ – fans devastated by ‘huge Gabriel news’

Arsenal fans are fearing the worst after Gabriel Magalhaes suffered a hamstring injury against Fulham on Tuesday.

Mikel Arteta’s side returned to Premier League action at the Emirates and recorded a 2-1 win over their London rivals, cutting the gap on Liverpool to nine points at the top ahead of Saturday’s trip to Everton.

Bukayo Saka made a scoring return to the Arsenal side following over three months on the sidelines through injury, putting the Gunners 2-0 up after makeshift striker Mikel Merino’s first-half opener.

However, both of those high points came following yet another bitter injury blow for Arteta, with Gabriel withdrawn just 16 minutes into the contest having pulled his hamstring in the early stages of the match.

Jurrien Timber was also taken off in the 77th minute with a problem of his own, meaning that while Saka’s comeback provides a huge positive, it’s one step forward and two steps back for the Gunners.

Gabriel injury a brutal pill to swallow for Arsenal

Arsenal are yet to receive a full diagnosis of Gabriel’s hamstring problem and how long it will keep the Brazilian on the sidelines for, but Tim Sherwood said on Sky Sports that he could be out for the season.

Gabriel pulled up after chasing down Fulham flyer Adama Traore and eventually hitting the deck, with referee John Brooks criticised for not stopping the match earlier to allow Arsenal to give him treatment.

Gabriel and Timber join a lengthy injury list at The Emirates

Former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that links with a move to Al-Nassr were purely for Gabriel to earn a new contract at Arsenal, but that could now be under threat.

Arteta will have every digit crossed that the Brazilian is back in action as soon as possible, but Gunners fans aren’t entirely optimistic that he’ll back fit in time for arguably their biggest game of the season.

Arsenal fans all say the same thing about Gabriel injury

Having welcomed back their right-wing talisman Saka from a three-month layoff, albeit barely an hour after losing one of Arteta’s star defenders, it’s unsurprising to see Arsenal fans despondent once again.

Arsenal fans would more likely lose Gabriel to Al-Nassr than to the treatment table, and took to social media fearing the worst ahead of their Champions League quarter-final with Real Madrid on 8 April.

While some fans questioned if Gabriel and Timber’s injuries were April Fool’s pranks, others weren’t as hopeful; one stating that Arsenal now “stand no chance” of beating the European champions next week.
