Arsenal star William Saliba reacts to Leandro Trossard after Liverpool title teed up

William Saliba reacted to a message from Arsenal teammate Leandro Trossard on social media ahead of their Champions League clash with PSG.

The Gunners effectively gift-wrapped the Premier League title for Liverpool by drawing 2-2 with Crystal Palace on Wednesday evening (23 April).

Arne Slot’s side needs just one point from their match against Tottenham on Sunday (27 April) to secure a second Premier League title this century.

Whilst there were some positives for Mikel Arteta to take away from the draw, namely Jakub Kiwior’s first goal of the season, David Raya’s miserable performance will be a major concern for Arsenal ahead of Tuesday’s (29 April) Champions League semi-final against PSG.

Following the draw, Trossard shared four photos on Instagram, captioned: “Full focus on Tuesday.”

The post was then liked by Real Madrid target Saliba. Whilst the Frenchman has been one of Arsenal’s best players this season, his mistake allowed Jean-Philippe Mateta to score Palace’s equaliser.

The France international will be keen to remedy that error with a stronger performance against PSG when the two sides meet.

Thanks to the season-ending injuries suffered by Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus, Mikel Merino has emerged as the unlikely first-choice starter upfront.

Whilst the Spaniard has been surprisingly capable as a makeshift number nine, the Gunners remain light in that position.

Thomas Partey will miss the first leg of the Champions League semi-final battle with PSG, and the Ghanaian’s absence could lead to Arteta looking to move Merino back into the midfield.

As shown in their wins over Liverpool and Aston Villa, the triumvirate of Vitinha, Joao Neves, and Fabian Ruiz is one of Europe’s best midfields and Arsenal will need to be at their best to stop the trio from running the show.

Trossard does not offer the same physicality as Merino up top, but having scored four goals in his last four games, Arteta may consider a last-minute tactical shift to make the most of the Belgian’s purple patch.
