Arsenal supporters react on Twitter to Xhaka display against Manchester City
By Amir Mir
Granit Xhaka played the full match as Arsenal were beaten 2-1 by Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday afternoon – and fans on Twitter have slated his performance.
The Gunners took the lead in the fifth-minute when Alexis Sanchez’ brilliant reverse pass found Theo Walcott who slotted home.
Arsene Wenger’s side had the better of the first period, in particular the first 20 minutes as they pressed high and tried to get in behind the City defence.
However, after the break the visitors went missing with Leroy Sane and Raheem Sterling punishing their title rivals with two beautifully taken goals.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Seeing all sorts of stick for Özil but Sanchez was rubbish too tonight. As was Xhaka. And Monreal. And Cech. Basically everybody. #afc

I'm still not convinced by Xhaka, he hasn't really added the much needed steel in big away games, which was why we bought him #afc

I'm lost for words. Dissapointing performance again. I feel the Xhaka-Coquelin pivot doesn't work well when going forward. #afc

The Arsenal faithful were clearly angry at the performance displayed by their team and midfielder Xhaka was one who felt the wrath.
Fans felt that the £30 million summer signing is not living up to his bill and he is not doing the job he was brought in to do.
Supporters also stated that Wenger’s tactic of playing Francis Coquelin alongside Xhaka does not work and did not pan out during the City defeat.
Xhaka has played 21 Premier League, Champions League and EFL Cup games for the north London club this term.
The combative midfielder has scored three goals, netting one in each competition and he has picked up one red card.
Wenger’s side host West Brom on Boxing Day, before starting the new year with a London derby against Crystal Palace.
After that defeat the north London club drop down to fourth in the table on 34 points from 17 games, nine behind leaders Chelsea.
In other Arsenal news, Manchester City are plotting a £25 million move for this Gunners player.
