Arsenal are battling with Fiorentina to land Anderlecht winger Andy Najar, Football Insider sources understand.
The Gunners are closely monitoring the Honduras international after he came to their attention following his performances on the right flank for Belgium’s premier club.
An Anderlecht source has told Football Insider that Fiorentina are currently in pole position to land the 22-year-old, who is rated in the £4million bracket.
The Italian club are second in Serie A at the midway point of the season, just one point behind leaders Inter Milan.
They are looking to strengthen their squad in the January transfer window as they step up their title challenge and prepare to maintain their Europa League progress.
Najar has played 31 times for the Honduras national team but has a US passport after joining Anderlecht from DC United in 2013.
Arsenal are closing in on their first signing of the January transfer as they wrap up the signing of midfielder Mohamed Elneny.
As reported by Football Insider, the Gunners have agreed terms with Basle and the player, who underwent a medical on Tuesday.
