Dani Ceballos has no future at Arsenal and will return to Real Madrid at the end of the season.
That is the view of former Gunners striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the possibility of the 24-year-old being signed permanently in the summer transfer window.
Ceballos has made 32 appearances during his second loan spell at the Emirates, including a start in Saturday’s dismal 3-0 loss against Liverpool.
He gave the ball away eight times in his own half and won just 42 per cent of his duels, as Mikel Arteta’s side were humbled by the visitors. (Wyscout)
Campbell suggested the Spain international played a key role in the club’s “awful” start to the 2020-21 campaign.
“I cannot see a future for him at Arsenal,” he told Football Insider.
“He would be nothing more than a squad player, if you ask me.
“When he came in last season, I thought he did pretty well, but he has not been at the same level this season for whatever reason. Let’s be honest, for the first half of the season Arsenal were awful and he played his part in that.
“I cannot see a permanent move coming off.”
According to The Times, Real Madrid will try to offload Ceballos this summer in a bid to raise enough funds to finance a move for Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.
Ceballos is approaching the final two years of his contract at the Bernabeu.
