Arsenal to accept £30m as Thomas Partey talks open – sources

Arsenal will demand a £30million transfer fee if they are to allow Thomas Partey to leave amid interest from clubs in Saudi Arabia.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the North London club will look to drive up the price for the 31-year-old amid “big” interest.

This comes shortly after Football Insider revealed that the midfielder’s representatives have been in talks in Saudi Arabia over a potentially “huge” contract.

Sources say that the Gunners will look to cash in on Partey this summer due to concerns about his recent injury struggles.

Arsenal set asking price for Thomas Partey amid Saudi interest

Arsenal brought Partey to the Emirates for a fee of £45million in 2020 and he has since made 115 appearances for the club across four years.

However, the midfielder missed 34 games last season after picking up a groin injury in September, which kept him out for 31 days, before a hamstring injury in November which ruled him out until March.

He was able to make just 16 appearances in the 2023/24 season and Mikel Arteta has grown frustrated about his fitness issues.

As a result, a £30million fee would allow them to maximise their losses on Partey’s sale, with the interest from Saudi Arabia allowing them to demand a higher fee.

Sources say that if Partey is sold this summer, the Gunners will target a younger midfielder with the money raised from his exit.

Football Insider revealed on 3 June that Arsenal want to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad as Arteta is a huge admirer of the Spaniard.

In other news, Unai Emery has held face-to-face talks with Ross Barkley.
