‘Arsenal to sign Diego Costa’ after Kai Havertz injury – Fans react to ‘pure chaos’

Arsenal fans have reacted to the chance to sign former Chelsea striker Diego Costa as the club consider free agent forwards.

Kai Havertz is out injured with Arsenal fans now saying their season is over, and the club may be forced into the free agent market to find a short-term alternative to the German striker.

Arsenal are also without Brazilian striker Gabriel Jesus due to injury, as the former Man City man tore his ACL against Man United.

Whilst players like Carlos Vela, Yaya Sanogo and Maxi Gomez are available, it is the former Chelsea and Atletico Madrid striker, Costa, who has caught the attention of Arsenal fans.

Costa is known for his goal-scoring, having netted 52 Premier League goals in three seasons for the Blues, and his hot-headedness, having received 30 yellow cards and a red during his time in West London.

Mikel Arteta will have to rely on free agent signings after January failings at Arsenal

Mikel Arteta was keen on the Gunners signing a striker in January, and Arsenal attempted to sign Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa in a £60million deal.

Arsenal were also linked with a move for Kingsley Coman from Bayern Munich, following an injury to star man, Bukayo Saka.

With neither of those deals coming to fruition, Arteta was left with a bare-bones squad, that has been limited even further by Havertz’s injury.

Given that the transfer window is now closed, the Spanish manager is limited in his options, with only a few strikers available on the free agent market, and even fewer of the required ability to perform at level Arteta needs.

Arsenal fans want to see Diego Costa join for Premier League title-push

Following Liverpool’s 2-2 draw with Everton, the Merseyside club remain in touching distance for Arsenal, with just seven points between them.

The Gunners last won the Premier League in 2004, and following City’s dismal start to this campaign, have a real shot at winning the title for the first time in 21 years.

However, injuries to key forwards have put a dent in the fan’s hopes of a league title, but Arteta may be able to give his squad a boost with a surprise signing.

One fan said Arsenal need a “quick fix” to sustain their title challenge, whilst another added that Costa at Arsenal would be “pure chaos” and they would love to see it.
