Arsenal told to agree Joao Cancelo deal after source’s reveal – pundit
Joao Cancelo would be an ideal signing for Arsenal before the end of the transfer window.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie has claimed that the Gunners should look to explore a deal for the Man City full back.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on Friday (4 August) that Man City want to sell Cancelo in the final weeks of the summer window.
It is unlikely the 29-year-old will win manager Guardiola back around despite his involvement in the treble-winners’ pre-season preparations.
It is believed the Gunners are keen to add a player with his class and experience, with a well-placed source telling Football Insider that the Portugal international “ticks a lot of boxes” for the Londoners.
With Cancelo’s exit at City highly likely, McAvennie believes that the Gunners would smart to attempt a deal for the full back.
“Cancelo would be another good signing from City for Arsenal,” he told Football Insider.
“Oleksandr Zinchenko and Gabriel Jesus went there last year and you could see their impact as soon as they joined the club.
“They just walked in the door with the aura that they are winners, they showed the rest of the team how you do it.

“And everyone just stepped up to the mark and they all stepped up and all of a sudden you get two winners in the dressing room, it makes a huge difference
“Throughout last season they had dragged the Arsenal team to the finish line in certain matches.”
